SUBJECT: FT. WAYNE DANCE EVENT
FROM: dbhestates@aol.com
just wanted to share....I went to this event and it was wonderful!!! The instructors were so helpful and so much fun! The NTA welcome party on Thursday night was very nice. I attended the NTA beginners room on Friday and learned some very good beginner dances and was taught the proper way to turn and step so not to injure myself when dancing. The chemistry between the instructors was wonderful. They were having a great time helping the beginners and helping the beginners feel relaxed and ready to learn more dances. The convention center that hosted the event was huge!!! and beautiful!! The Saturday evening show was great! We were entertained better than a Broadway musical! Barney and Jamie Marshall put on an event to be remembered. I hope to attend next year!!

Subject: I'm Alive - a hidden gem
From: Mike Taylor, taylormademusic@yahoo.com
Hi,
Blimey... it didn't take long for all the requests for the dance script to come in when I posted about the dance 'I'm Alive' on WLDN. (nearly in triple figures already - and my fingers are getting shorter...lol)
I just thought I would share this video with you.. Regina was like grease lightning with this video (actually it slotted in very nicely with her Beginner class the same day). After only a short teach the dancers were 'ready for it'.. and so they were.. just take a look for yourselves. Regina and her Students did the dance and the Choreographer proud.

SUBJECT: WOW, What a Party! Ft Wayne Just Keeps Getting Better!
FROM: Edie Driskill, Columbus, OH edie@linelessons.com
Hundreds of dancers had the HUGE main hall in the Ft. Wayne Convention Center, AND the not-so-small ballroom (divided into 2 large floors), and 3 nice-sized breakout rooms all to ourselves, with great floors, great sound, 30 amazing instructors and the gracious hospitality of Jamie and Barney Marshall. But wait! It was nice weather, too! I think for the first time in forever, the restaurants around the center were packed and dancers were strolling the streets of Ft. Wayne. Usually we have a blizzard and we all stay in and order pizza!
On Friday afternoon, LineLessons.com held our grand opening kickoff party in a breakout room and taught eight of the dances featured as Freshman and Sophomore dances on the site. The new dancers and their instructors kept busy enjoying dances just like their more experienced friends in the rooms next door. A big shout out to Jamie Marshall, Karen Hedges, Junior Willis, Amy Christian-Sohn, Lawrence Allen, Susan Puruleski, Carol Schwartz and Judy MacDonald for stopping by to teach our newest friends in the line dancing world!
There was so much going on this weekend....Junior had a huge group of dancers learn a very cool clogging routine that they performed Saturday night. Amy brought a group of Wanna-Be-Indians, dressed in beautiful traditional outfits to showcase her new dance. A group of developmentally challenged adults in a ballroom dancing program performed for us. Jamie put on a typically wonderful and funny beach romp for the Saturday night show, the highlight of which was the largest dancer in the room (John Lindo) cradling the smallest dancer in the room (Jasmine Miklic - 2 mos old!)....you just had to be there! We had two recording artists there, Marlee Scott and Rhonda Towns, to sing for us while we danced....both amazing talents! A set of specific floor splits were taught so everyone could dance to the most popular dances, regardless of their dance experience. NTA offered three classes and testing for three levels. Tim and Alice played anything you wanted in the all-request room. The couples had a Jack n Jill contest in the swing room. The choreographers had a well attended competition....with a teen winning one division and our home state hero, Lawrence Allen, winning another. John, Joanne, Junior, Jill and Jamie entertained us throughout with their sleep deprived senses of humor! Joanne even donned a swimsuit and raised $1000 for the Diabetes Association while teaching Rain Against My Window.
In addition to all of that, we had the normal "learn a dance-forget a dance" lessons all day long. But at the nightly dances, they made sure to play them when the instructor was there to lead....I think it is very cool that these talented dancers work their (mostly) little tushes off all day long and then dance with us all night. Some specific notes about dances taught.....More and more people are loving Judy's 649 (It's taken me 3 lessons...but I'm there!) Scott got some more people to try out the contra-experience in Hey Mama....but I think there will always be the automatic floor split....."contra over there..." and since Bracken was there, her dance split the floor three ways....just proving that line dancers play well with others! Speaking of which, I think I counted 8 dances going on at the same time to Josh Turner's, Why Don't We Just Dance...not including the two entered in the choreography competition! There were too many dances introduced or retaught to mention, but my personal favorite, just cause he can do no wrong, was Little Red Corvette by Rob Glover....taught lovingly by Scott (with apologies to Rachel.)
This center is huge and Jamie reminds me of my grandma....if more people show up for dinner, she just puts out another plate! So, do join us next year Feb 24 - 27. It is an amazing party!

SUBJECT: LUCKY LUCKY ME - by Jill Babinec
Appreciate all the good feedback on my newest dance. I've getting a few requests on where to find the music for my new dance Lucky Lucky Me. The song is Lucky Lucky Me by Pat Carpenter Band off the Locals Too CD . This cd also has the songs for 2 other dances (What's On The Menu and Me & Bobby). It's a great cd you won't be disappointed in it. To order the CD you can contact John Robinson who has them in hand or you can visit this site.. www.khpmusic.com.
I also have placed another video for youtube... i know a few said it was outta sync and i apologize for that ..it was smooth on this end when i viewed it...guess it depends on connection. SO i have deleted the titles and such and just put original on there and that link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGCLf3hzXRU ( the other is still there for viewing though).

SUBJECT: RE: Ft. Wayne Dance For All
FROM: Alice Daugherty/Tim Hand
e:mail: bigalofamerica@aol.com
I really don't know how Jamie & Barney Marshall does it, but every year you think this event cannot get any better and then the next year comes and it's even better than the past! Besides all the classes you can participate in from Line Dancing, Clogging, 2 Step, West Coast, East Coast, Cha Cha, Waltz, Salsa & Pattern Partner Dances and all levels from Beginner to Advance something for everyone and not to mention the 21/2 hour class taught by Larry Harmon "DJing and Dancing To Your Computer, the NTA classes just so much to learn. It is so great when you just have to make yourself take a break and rest the feet and to actually be able to sit at tables right in the middle of entrances to the Main Ballroom and Workshop Rooms and just visit with all of your friends from all over. At night you can go from the Main Ballroom to the Swing Room to the All Request Room all right there together so not to miss your favorite dance music no matter what type of dancing you are looking for whether it be couples, older and newer line dances just something for everyone.
We had the pleasure of meeting Marlee Scott who performed Friday night, Rhonda Towns performed Saturday morning, Amy Christian & Friends special performance and also we missed it, but heard there were so many great dances for the Choreography competition and we congratulate all the winners. Also, we can't forget Gale & Debi working the registration desk and being so friendly no matter what time of the day or night if we had a question or needed something. It's always funny to see which hat Gale will have on when you pass the desk aka the woman with so many hats! Also, we can't forget our girls taking care of all of us in the hospitality room, Julie & Chris. It's all of this along with all the great instructors and DJs Jamie and Barney brings in that makes this a great event to attend not to mention the great price!
Saturday night after the show which was choreographed by Jamie and such great music choices in the routine and just such a great high energy routine Scott Blevins was thanking the Marshall's for making this weekend possible with all of the hard work they put into it during the entire year and said this was such a homey event and I totally agree. You really feel like you are at home and dancing with 700 of your friends.
Tim and I taught Slow Rain the Line & Pattern Partner Dance chorographed by Barry & DariAnne Amato and we want to thank everyone who participated in the classes as we had a great turnout for both and then we all had the pleasure of meeting Rhonda Towns the artist on Friday night before dancing while she performed Saturday morning which we also had such a great turnout for at 9:30 Saturday morning. Everyone did such a great job for this and we thank you for your participation in making Rhonda feel so welcome. Remember you can go to www.danceadvantage.com to check out Barry & DariAnne and Rhonda. We also brought back 2 older dances for couples, "The Wooden Nickel" and "The Tennessee Walk", we taught our dances "Just Another Couples Dance" and "Kansas City Couple" along with Dan Albro's "Let's Do That Again", "Crazy People" by Greywolf & Wiya Wambli . Now Line Dances I taught "Quarter After One" by Levi Hubbard and "Linda Eh" by Ira Weisburd, after teaching Slow Rain the Line Dance Tim taught "Walking In The Rain" by Maggie Gallagher all full classes and we want to thank all of you for attending our classes and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know. You are the reason why we have so much fun and enjoy teaching and we thank Jamie and Barney for having us as instructors and DJs for this great event again this year. All these dances will be on videos you can purchase from Bob Bahrs who also provided us with great floors to dance on all weekend! Remember you can book your room now for next year and if you have not attended this event in the past you really should try it next year after that you will be hooked just like the rest of us. Remember, if you are passing through Louisville, KY stop and dance with us and don't forget any questions just let us know. Thanks again to Jamie, Barney and all of the dancers who attends this event as without your support I'm sure Jamie and Barney would not be able to throw us a party like this. ..Remember, register early for all of your dance events so the Event Directors can plan great weekends of dancing for all of us.
Also, Happy Belated Birthday Carol and thank you and Staci for all your hard work and time to keep all of us connected!

Subject: “Footloose in the Foothills” Line Dance Event – Calgary, Canada
From: Carolyn Jurek, cjurek@shaw.ca
We had a blast at this brand new dance event – I want to say “last weekend”, but time flies and it was more than a week ago now. Thank you so much to Deb Selzler for organizing the event. It was great to see Joanne Brady again – instructor and entertainer extraordinaire! Thank you, Joanne, for travelling to our part of the world. And thanks to local instructors Sue, Taj, Gerry and Jill for sharing your talents with us all weekend.
I am part of both the country and non-country line dance communities in Calgary, and I had some tough decisions to make through the day to decide which workshops to take – they were all great. During open dancing on Saturday evening, I was constantly moving between the country room and non-country room, following my favourite dances. Honestly, I loved Friday night when there was only one room of open dancing, combining both types of music and dances into one playlist.
It’s great to learn that a second (annual?) Footloose event is already being planned for next year! This year, all attendees were from Calgary and nearby (OK – 3 hrs drive for the Drayton Valley ladies!). If you’re planning a trip to western Canada next winter, consider combining this Footloose line dance event with your visit to Calgary, Banff, and the beautiful Canadian Rockies. Awesome skiing and snowboarding – many call it the best in the world. We’d love to see you here!
Cheers,

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEWSLETTER:
SUBJECT: NOTE ABOUT DANCES BEING POSTED ON THE NEW DANCES/VIDEO PAGE.
We only accept brand new dances to be posted on our site (no more than two months old). The sites (below) archive dances (and I'm sure there's other sites that also archive dances) and you can submit your older dances and new dances to them, also. If your site as listed below is not correct, please let me know. This is just a list that I have kept for awhile. Remember, our site is only to INTRODUCE brand new dances and they remain there for a short period of time and are either deleted or graduated to the next category as they continue to do well or not. Thanks for your cooperation.
