Subject; MLDE in Sturbridge, Ma
From: Bob Grundy
Report on MLDE that was held on March 6th in Sturbridge, Ma and hosted by Forty Arroyo. Although I could not spend the entire day it was obvious from the beginning that it was going to be a day to remember. All those in attendance did come to dance, and dance they did. Each of the instructors that showed their talents in the morning did such a fantastic job keeping every person on the floor for their lessons. Dave Sickles opened the lessons with a few easy and fun dances. Charlene Wiencyk followed with her dances and again, everyone on the floor. Donna Shea took everyone to the lunch break with Rumba Ride. A classic that was enjoyed by everyone that was complimented by her excellent teach of the dance. I had to leave for the afternoon but I have heard nothing but GREAT REVIEWS from everyone that was there. Every dance taught during the day and evening were all keepers and so many dances in between lessons have been asked for at Fortys NEXT MLDE. I hope Forty will ask me to do her next one. If I can't teach I will be there to earn.

Subject: Massachusetts Line Dance Exchange workshop - Thank you!.
From: Forty & Friends of the Hayloft.
Thanks to all who came out to MLDE and for all the great feedback. The positive energy and camaraderie was palpable. Because of YOU, our DJ, our wonderful instructors and the Hayloft Staff (Mellonee & Carolyn) this “no-frills, purely dance” workshop was a huge success – The Barn was almost at capacity. Our talented line-up (listed below) brought us some great dances (already reported, so I won't duplicate). These will all be taught at The Hayloft and we hope that the dancers and instructors will be taking them back to their area – as this is what the EXCHANGE is all about. We had dancers/groups representing many of the MA instructors who keep them “IN-LINE” – Joe Steele, Dave Sickles, Donna Shea, Charlene Wiencek, Todd Lescarbeau, Staci Cutler, Bob Grundy, Forty Arroyo (that’s me), Dave Pytka, Pat Barschenski, Steve Lescarbeau, Carol Shackelford and Arlene Verity. Long time supporter of The Hayloft Barn, Sharon Haggart (CT) was also in the house.
A lot of new smiling faces and happy feet – a real bunch of fun and enthusiastic dancers - pure joy. We heard no complaints - so we hope to see them again in the future.
This was Joe Steele’s first time at the Hayloft and he seemed right at home. I am sure the dancers will all agree that he did not miss a beat – keeping up with requests, calling dances, stepping on to the dance floor to help out and his delightful sense of humor. Oh yes, his "Groovy Little Dance" was a huge hit and Bob Grundy's & Dave Sickles' dance "Me & Bobby" continues to be a crowd pleaser.
IT IS SAID: If there is something good to be said – don’t let that someone go onward without it. If you enjoyed their workshops and or dances, let them know – let us know. We want to bring you the best exchanges at future local workshops. Listed below are the emails of our MLDE#1 instructors. Drop them a line, get on their email list and keep abreast of what is happening in their neck of the woods.
IF YOU ENJOYED THEM at MLDE – LET THEM KNOW!!

What can I say,.... Jamie and Barney has done it again!!! They put together, yet another awesome event, that happened last weekend!
Everything was just perfect! The Venue, the Workshops, the Show and... the People!!!!
I want to thank Jamie and Barney for letting me be part of this awesome event!!!
I also want to thank everyone who came to my workshops and I hope you had fun with my dances!
I taught,... Fire Burning, I Need To Know, Sisters! and Dhoom Dhoom (another Bollywood styled dance) and I also snuck in my fun, new beginner dance, Umbrella. (shhhh....!)
My students had a blast!!!! A bunch of them have not been dancing that long. I call them "my one year olds"! haha! They loved every moment of it and will be back next year! YES!!!!!
I want to thank Sharlene and her lovely group of dancers from Ohio, who performed a little dance on Friday night along with my dancers and myself.
We only got to practice the performance dance together for the first time,.. the day before the performance. But,..... I think we managed to do good! (If I may say so myself! haha!)
It was funny to hear my students tell me that when they performed, they were taken by surprised with all the camera flashes and that it kinda startled and blinded them for a bit! They said they didn't expect the "Paparazzi" there! haha!
The whole group loved the experience of performing and that's so cool!!!
They all looked so good in the Indian "Salwaar Kameez" outfits too!
I think I might have started a new fashion trend! haha!
Here's a video link of the performance dance, by the "Wanna Be Indians!!!!" ....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDGQ3fi_SS0

Also,...I am so happy for Jane Boyd for winning 2nd place, for her first choreography, Party In The USA. We choreographed that dance together.
Here's the video link of, Party In The USA,.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHosuqRW3q4
Jane has only been dancing for a year and I am so proud of her and the others too!
I am very fortunate to have a lovely bunch of students, that I dance with each week and we have become such good friends! Isn't that what it's all about?!!! Love it!!!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for next year's Ft. Wayne Dance For All event! The dates are February 24th -27th, 2011. www.ftwaynedanceforall.com

Stuff you Gotta Watch (INT) by Michele Perron taught by Kathy Donohoo.

Open dancing had something for everyone. Some of the dances played and requested were Chica Boom Boom, Playing with Fire, Mojo Rhythm, Moonlight Madness, Toes, Walking the Dog, Hands Up, Hippy Dippy Mambo, Rain Against my Window, Chill Factor (and LB Groove), Broken Stones, Poker Face (and Mamma Maria), Fiona, Shoes of Another Man, I Love Lucy and others. SUBJECT: RE: Sunday Teach @ the Ft. Wayne Event & Hoosier Dance Fest, Warsaw, IN
FROM: Alice Daugherty/Tim Hand
E:MAIL bigalofamerica@aol.com
Sorry, yesterday when we sent in the list of dances we had taught at the Ft.Wayne Dance Event this past weekend we did forget to mention also Tim did teach a class Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and the dance was "Lucky Old Sun" choreographed by Kim Ray. You really have to dance this dance a couple of times to really appreciate it. At first you may listen to the music by Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney and not care for it, but trust me after doing it a couple of times it is really a nice dance done so well to the music and like someone in class said a great way to close out an evening of dancing. We actually taught it in West Virginia last November when it was first choreographed and here in Louisville. There is a video with Kim dancing it so you can check it out. It is a 32 count Intermediate Line Dance with No Tags or Restarts, but like I said you have to dance it a couple of times to really get the feel of the dance.
Also, join us Saturday April 10th for the 7th Annual Hoosier Dance Fest at the American Legion in Warsaw, Indiana. This great one day workshop is hosted by Bev Carpenter and instructors will be Pam & Eagle Lindsey, Babe & Judy Woodward, Garth Book, Alice Daugherty, Tim Hand and Bev herself. We have such a great time participating in this event. If you are in the area and you are looking for something fun to do then come on and join us. We will be teaching both Line and Pattern Partner Dances and the evening dance is All Request so something for everyone who attends. Workshop cost is $15.00 and that includes your dance that night. You can also purchase dinner "All You Can Eat" Spaghetti, Salad & Garlic Bread for $6.50 (this is not included with the workshop pass) Now if you have not attended this workshop before make plans now to join us. This year 1/3 of the proceeds is donated to help The Childrens Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. For more information please contact Bev Carpenter at 574-223-5125 or email her at gottadance@rtcol.com. We hope to see you!
